When is the best time to be vaccinated?

September and October are the best times to get a flu shot, before the flu season starts in your community. It takes about two weeks for the flu shot to take full effect, so the earlier you get it, the earlier you and your family are protected.² The timing and severity of the flu varies each year, but it’s better to be prepared and protected so you don’t miss any holiday fun.

What are the benefits of getting vaccinated?

The vaccine is an important part of preventing the flu. It protects you, friends, family, and others around you, especially those who are high risk. This includes babies, young children, older adults, pregnant people, and anyone with a chronic health condition, such as asthma, diabetes, or heart or lung disease.¹
