Help for Members Impacted by Severe Weather and Tornadoes in Arkansas

June 12, 2019

We’re taking steps to help our members and emergency personnel impacted by severe weather and tornadoes in Arkansas.

If you live in the counties of Arkansas, Chicot, Conway, Crawford, Desha, Faulkner, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, Logan, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Sebastian, Yell or any other counties that subsequently declared an emergency due to dangerous and damaging conditions resulting from the severe weather and storms that began May 21, 2019, here’s what you should know:

  • You may request a 60-day extension for premium payments between the dates of May 21, 2019, and July 19, 2019, provided you are able to show significant property damage, injuries or related loss of life as a result of the storms and flooding. If your request for an extension is approved, your policy won’t be canceled due to nonpayment of premium from May 21, 2019 through July 19, 2019, and you will not be penalized for any late payments during this period.
  • If you have an Anthem prescription drug plan you can get up to a 30-day emergency refill of your medications at any pharmacy now. This also applies to emergency personnel who have been activated by their state and local agency, but who do not reside in Arkansas.

Relaxed guidelines are in effect from May 21 through July 19, 2019 for impacted members in Arkansas. They apply to members with Anthem group or individual and family health plans. They do not apply to Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan members, Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Specialty and any fully insured trust funds - these programs have their own specific guidelines.
