UPDATE: Anthem Blue Cross Announces Multi-Year Agreement with Sutter Health

Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem) today announced that it has come to an agreement on terms for a new multi-year contract with Sutter Health that provides Anthem members with continued in-network access to high-quality care at Sutter facilities and with affiliated physicians through 2022, and protects affordability for consumers.

Q: How does this impact Anthem members with HMO plans who received a letter stating they would be moved to a non-Sutter primary care physician effective April 1?

Anthem Blue Cross is pleased that we have successfully renewed our agreements? with Sutter Health effective April 1. Therefore, Sutter Health will remain in the Anthem Blue Cross HMO network and your enrollment with your primary care physician will not change. 

If you enrolled with a new medical group after receiving the initial letter and wish to re-enroll with Sutter Health or another medical group, or if you have any other questions, please contact Anthem Blue Cross by using the toll-free number on your current Anthem Blue Cross identification card.

Q: How does this impact What about Medi-Cal members who were moved to non-Sutter primary care physicians?

Any Medi-Cal member who was transitioned to a non-Sutter primary care physician and wishes to switch back to a Sutter physician should contact Anthem Blue Cross by calling the toll-free number on the back of their Anthem Blue Cross identification card.

Q: How does this impact Anthem members with other non-HMO/non-Medi-Cal plans?

As a result of this agreement, Sutter Health will remain in the Anthem Blue Cross network and there is no change in your ability to access Sutter facilities and physicians.
