What We Offer

Anthem’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides quick and easy access to confidential counseling and referral services to help you deal with daily work and life challenges. It’s employer-sponsored, so it’s available at no cost to you, your dependents or household members.

Work/Life Services

In today's complex world there are many challenges that prevent you from achieving your best. Finding quality child care, caring for an aging loved one, and balancing the conflicting needs of work and personal life are just some of the hurdles people face.

Not all problems require a face-to-face counseling session. Many times, the challenge can be resolved with work/life services.

We offer resources to address parenting, education, adoption, health and wellness, tobacco use, ID recovery and more.

Employees and their household members will have access to a comprehensive network of child and elder care providers throughout the United States. Services may include, but are not limited to:

With Anthem EAP, you and your household members have access to initial legal and financial consultation as part of the standard work/life feature.

You also have access to an online library of legal and financial information, in addition to financial calculators to help address issues ranging from debt management to buying a new home.

Matters involving disputes or actions between members and their employer or other work-related issues, malpractice issues, or issues involving Anthem EAP or its parent company are specifically excluded from this plan. Also excluded are matters that lack merit (in the opinion of the attorney). Court costs, filing fees, fines, and subsequent consultations beyond EAP-described services are the responsibility of the member.

EAP Counseling Services

Good health doesn't just mean physical well-being. Emotional wellness is every bit as important. Anthem EAP has an extensive network of licensed behavioral health professionals who can help you address a variety of issues:

Anthem EAP offers LiveHealth Online, which offers the option of accessing live therapy via smart phone, tablet or computer in order to get expert advice, a treatment plan, and medication, if needed.

How many counseling sessions are available? 
 
The number of counseling sessions available to you may vary depending on the plan your employer has chosen. Call the toll-free number in your EAP materials to find out how many sessions are offered.
 
What types of counselors can I see?
 
Licensed professionals in five disciplines are eligible for membership in our EAP network: 
 
  • Psychologists
  • Social Workers
  • Professional Counselors
  • Marriage and Family Therapists
  • Psychiatric or Behavioral Health Nurse Specialists
 
How do I get counseling?
 
Simply search the private EAP website for a counselor or call the toll-free number provided in your EAP materials. Intake representatives are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to refer you to a network counselor near your home, work, or other convenient location.  
 
 
What if I need more than the maximum visits included in my EAP plan?
 
If you need counseling beyond your EAP services, our staff can help you access your medical or behavioral health benefits (even if you’re not an Anthem medical plan member), or locate community resources to help you resolve your concerns. If Anthem is your health insurance provider, you can continue with the same counselor and receive coverage through your Anthem medical plan benefits.
 
How do I access legal services?
 
If you would like to discuss an issue with a legal professional, just call the toll-free number provided in your EAP materials. One of our intake representatives can connect you with an attorney in your area to discuss your situation.
 
 
What kind of legal services do you provide?
 
You receive a free 30-minute telephone or in-person consultation with one of our contracted network attorneys or mediators. Additional legal services are available at a 25 percent discount from customary fees. 
 
 
What types of legal issues can I discuss?
 
Our network of legal professionals can discuss almost any type of legal issue with you including:
 
  • Personal business legal services
  • Civil/consumer issues
  • Criminal matters
  • Estate planning law

Additional legal services beyond the initial consultation are available at a discount. We can also provide you with a list of community resources that may be available to you at reduced cost or no cost.
How do I access financial services?
 
If you would like to discuss an issue with a financial professional, just call the toll-free number provided in your EAP materials and one of our intake representatives will connect you with a financial professional.
 
What kind of financial services do you provide?
 
You’ll receive a free telephone consultation with one of our financial professionals who can help you:

Online Search
 
You can locate child and elder care providers near you by completing the online search questionnaire on our EAP website.
 
 
Assisted Search
 
With our Enhanced EAP, a referral specialist conducts a personalized search to find services that fit your needs. They contact each provider to confirm availability, hours of operation, licensing and capabilities. Then, within 12 hours of the receipt of the search request, the referral specialist emails, faxes or mails you a personalized packet of information.

How much does it cost?
 
Anthem EAP is an employer-sponsored program. That means there is no co-pay or deductible to access our services. However, payment for services beyond those provided by the EAP are your responsibility.
